Inner-Galactic Journaling with Meres-Sia Gabriel

As artists in a capitalist culture, it can be easy to get caught in a cycle of performance and production — chasing output while losing touch with the inner worlds that made us want to create in the first place.

Inner-Galactic Journaling is a writing workshop designed to bring artists back to their source: the dreams, questions, memories, and constellations that spark original creativity.

Through timed, prompted journaling exercises, participants will be invited into a non-performative and expansive writing experience. There is no pressure to produce and no audience to perform for — just you, your page, and space to reconnect.

Participants will leave feeling clearer, more grounded in their creative practice, and reminded of why they began making art in the first place.

The 40x40 Living Practice Sessions are professional development gatherings for East Oakland artists and cultural workers, offering space to deepen creative practice, build community, access resources, and support a sustainable creative life.
